Melanie Acker, M.S., LPC-S
Melanie Acker is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with extensive experience in both education and private practice. She has worked in education for 19 years as a teacher, counselor, administrator, and at the central office level, along with 5 years in private practice supporting clients through a variety of life challenges. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Counseling from East Texas A&M University.
Melanie believes counseling can be beneficial for everyone and recognizes that it takes courage and faith to begin the journey—whether toward healing, growth, or navigating a difficult season of life. Regardless of the reason, she feels honored to walk alongside her clients and support them through the process.
She works with young adults and adults navigating life transitions, difficult relationships, and trauma. Melanie also specializes in supporting women with ADHD and anxiety, helping them balance the challenges of work, motherhood, and becoming the healthiest version of themselves. In addition, she provides support for grief related to loss, life transitions, and relationship changes.
Her approach integrates EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and specialized training in ADHD, grief, and trauma. Melanie focuses on helping clients process experiences, build practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Outside of her clinical work, Melanie enjoys 2000s music, working out, and iced coffee. She values spending time with her husband, their two teenagers, and their dog, and is passionate about continuing to learn new strategies and creative approaches to best support her clients.
