Is Your Child or Teen Struggling?

Children and teenagers often express emotional difficulties differently than adults. You may notice:

  • Frequent meltdowns or emotional outbursts

  • Persistent worries, fears, or anxiety

  • School avoidance or declining academic performance

  • Difficulty concentrating, focusing, or managing impulses

  • Social withdrawal or difficulty with friendships

  • Sudden mood changes or increased irritability

These concerns can affect your child's confidence, relationships, and daily functioning. Counseling provides a supportive environment to explore challenges, build emotional awareness, and develop practical coping strategies.

Therapy for Children

Children often communicate their emotions through behavior and play. At Clarion Therapy & Wellness, our therapists use developmentally appropriate, play-based and skill-building approaches to help children:

  • Navigate anxiety, behavioral challenges, and life transitions

  • Strengthen communication and problem-solving skills

Parents and caregivers are important partners in the counseling process. When appropriate, therapists provide guidance and practical strategies to help families reinforce progress at home.

Adolescence brings changes in identity, relationships, academics, and emotional development. Teen counseling at Clarion offers a supportive environment where adolescents can:

  • Manage anxiety, stress, and overwhelming emotions

  • Improve emotional regulation and healthy coping

  • Navigate friendships, peer relationships, and academic pressures

  • Build confidence, self-esteem, and decision-making skills

  • Address depression, trauma, and adjustment difficulties

Our therapists respect age-appropriate confidentiality while maintaining appropriate communication with parents and caregivers, consistent with professional and legal requirements.

School-Based Experience That Informs Our Counseling

Many of our therapists are both Licensed Professional Counselors and certified school counselors, with several continuing to work in school settings. This firsthand experience provides valuable insight into the academic, social, and emotional challenges children and teens face.

Our therapists understand how school-related concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, learning differences, and emotional challenges in the classroom, can affect a child's well-being. This experience helps inform a counseling approach that considers both the child's mental health and school environment.
